Stop Struggling with French Numbers

Learning the numbers in French is a basic stage towards mastering the language. Several patterns are evident in the way numbers are formed.

The numbers 1 to 16 are just single words.

The numbers 17 to 19 are compounds based on 10. They are linked by hyphens.

The numbers between 20 and 60 follow a similar pattern. These numbers are hyphenated except for 21, 31, 41, 51 and 61.

The numbers from 60 to 90 change. They are compounds from previous numbers. For example 70 becomes (sixty-ten) 71 (sixty-eleven) ....

Learning numbers is a repetitive exercise that can be achieved with the help of Flashcards and Posters.
